Arty Farty Crazy Money

Undoubtedly the power of money can buy them everything.
From unheard of country to one that won organising the 2022 FIFA World Cup, to building very intricate ultra modern design of National Library to commissioning those arty farty artist from the Mat Salleh countries in hope to emerged as a cultured nation.
And hoping it will represent the country.

However, money cannot buy everything.
It can't buy you culture.
It cannot buy civilised behaviour, and certainly cannot bring you where you think you might achieve with it.
And it certainly contradict with the Islamic values of this nation.

I for one hates the Damien Hirst.
To me he is not an artist.
He can received nod and the ooss's and ahhh's from those 'had- to- be- nice' mat salleh back home but having carcasses and violent display of so-called?...It's mere luck. Probably he has some rich and famous friends who helped him sell his 'art'...

His works in front of the one Children Hospital called Miraculous Journey – a group of 14 bronze foetus sculptures – are an absolute show of nothing.
I'd say, Asian are more open minded that the Arabs, thus I cannot comprehend how this conservative Gulf monarchy can put up such 'art'.

Same goes to an American artist Richard Serra 'abstract sculpture' in the middle of the desert outside of Doha.
The Stonehenge....hello.
If you cannot do something new, then don't be a copy cat.
No doubt he won his way in to the desert which are barren and thirsty for culture.

The head of Qatar Museums Authority, Sheikha Al-Mayassa, of course, related to the Emir, is well-known in the art world thanks to the investment of large sums of money acquiring masterpieces.
Last year, London’s Art Review magazine called her the most influential personality in the field of contemporary art, saying she spends about a billion dollars on artwork every year.

Should they consider Milo Moiré in Doha too....?!...No?

Art is in the eye of the beholder.

"Hirst tells a story with his work of the simple and complex issues that all of us are facing: life, death, fear, beauty, how we deal with death and decay, luxury and value.”

Beheaded cow.
The positioning of baby in the womb.
Demonic looking baby statue.

And what is so complex about life, death, fear etc?
If one fail to deal with it, there's always Prozac to help...no?
Anyway, thus why in Islam we must believe in Qada and Qadar, which mean life before birth and until the death of us is all under Allah’s decision or decree and the belief that nothing can occur without Allah’s permission. Whatever Allah wills happens, and whatever he does not will does not happen.
That is it...It's the sixth pillar of faith.

Finding it complex to comprehend the reason behind Doha Museum od Islamic Art agree and dubbed into having this guy exhibit his so-called thought provoking 'masterpiece', though.

To me it is disgusting.
What is an art when you exhibit the process of baby progress, of course not the pre-making of it (which I'm sure included in those not allowed pieces)...or perhaps I'm not contemporary or conceptual enough to understand this artist works.

Duhhhh.....

Of art and religion.

Calling it offensive to Islam, some locals urge removal of headbutt statue

In Qatar and abroad, reaction to the permanent installation of a 5-meter (16-foot) bronze statue depicting two fighting footballers on the Corniche last week has varied wildly, from admiration, respect and amusement to bewilderment, anger and disappointment.

Over the past few days, a new issue with the statue, which depicts French football player Zinedine Zidane head-butting Marco Materazzi in the 2006 World Cup, has been brought up, with some locals saying it offends religious sensibilities.

Depictions of living creatures, such as humans and animals, are discouraged in Islam, over concerns about idolatry and challenges to the monotheistic faith.
However, many Muslim countries honor their leaders by featuring their faces in currency, hanging up portraits of them and erecting statues in their likeness.
Nonetheless, the Twitter hashtag #تمثال_زيدان_بالكورنيش (Zidane’s statue on the Corniche) has been gaining momentum today, with some residents calling for the removal of the statue out of respect for Qatar’s Islamic beliefs.

Movie Talk: Twilight Fans' Vampire Addiction Affecting Relationships

What can you say!

I have to admit after having label the first movie as 'child's play' without even watching it, reading about the never ending craze they (the actor and actress, not much of the story line) had done on teenagers and married women alike, I can't help but got interested to fill in my curiosity. Whatmore after having to know someone who was able to shed tears reading the book, I decided to borrow from her.
It was the second supplement of the Twilight Saga.
Because I still can't understand people shedding tears on fictions (still remember Titanic when the sobbing sounds are here and there in the cinema) I also make an effort to get a copy of DVD and watch it at home.

All I can say is reading the book is much much better than watching the movies.
It's engaging and the story was surrounding forbidden loves. And tell me honestly, what forbidden love that never captures?
Thus not even coming to the middle of the book, I rushed to the bookstore and bought myself the Twilight Saga set.

Hahahaha....yeah, shy to admit but I was into Edward for a while too...but it finishes along with the whole set when I'm done reading.

In my opinion, this is what good actress and actor can do But most importantly the chemistry caught by the camera of the two lovers transfered to the silver screen that managed to incite all the lovey dovey feelings among teenagers, managed to rekindle sweet memories for the elders (like moi...) and all kinds of emotional bewilderment.

For this one, although the previous second supplement didn't work wonders at all, I'll still watch it....for Edward. ;)

Hard to Start.

Im in my mode of not knowing when to start.
I have been trying but somehow find it hard to part.
I hope I can take it to heart.
And when it is done, I'll be happy with my work of art.

Colour and Canvass

See, i had always wanted to start painting again but there would always be something that will cropped up and stop me from doing so.
The last painting i painted was like umpteen years ago; it was an abstract a mix of light green and mostly yellows painting of a woman sitting down with folded legs. It was a birthday present for a good friend.
Painting is like a rush of feeling, or perhaps more of a desire. Now i am really in the moods. I really wish that i can lock myself up in that room which me and my other half agree to be turn it into our arty room. Unfortunately, as i am now a mother of one young girl at the age of attention seeking; i think i will have to put my intentions aside, again.
One; it is because of her being sticky and two; i dare to bet that whatever rush i felt prior to starting to paint, will be put off by her screaming or crying wanting the acrylic tube in my hand or aiming for the colour plate that look so tantalizing to her.
Those time it was much easier to express my feelings and thought as i was a free soul. Nevertheless, as one grow, the responsibilities and whatnot will grow alongside. Especially with work commitments; my hands are quiet full.
I have always love to paint.
I love art. Having not to complete my Art degree due to some reasons, it has never been a hindrance because art itself is very subjective.
My forever dream and vision was to have a small full glass room with the sun shining in full to give me the brightness that i need to paint beautiful coloured paintings of still life or scenery of my dream. And it must be near to a beach too.....(wink.. wink... so much so it sounded so stereotype of a lonely painter in any melodramatic drama)
Now and again, the only thing that i will start with is.... thinking when will i start to put colours on the canvass that has been waiting for me since quite early this year.....hhmmmmm...........
